"Love is stored in the kitchen"
Lately, I have been thinking
About the kitchen table,
Where love sits in a basket.
What is it about dinner
That forgives all sins?
There is a quiet understanding
Over a bowl of tomato soup.
"I want you to be warm"
How many words have
The wooden beams heard
In this lifetime.
Perhaps humanity has stumbled
Once or twice over the
Course of existence
But we got this right.
The kitchen table in late
Afternoon,
Sun spilling over the edges.
Let me feed you.
What a lovely way
To tell someone "I love you"
